I stopped in an internet cafe (still no network access at the hotel, not that I tried recently) for a few moments. I have seen all I want today and it is too early for dinner (and way too early for when Italians eat dinner). I will type until my time runs out.
Today was the catacombs along the Appian Way. They are closed from noon to 2:00. I arrived at about 12:30 and thought I would get lunch nearby. Alas, there is no "nearby." Lunch was crackers I bought that morning.
The catacombs are rather interesting, showing how the Christians of the first few centuries worshiped and buried their dead away from hostile eyes.
I am off to Florence tomorrow. Hopefully with internet access at the hotel.
